音樂是一種聽覺上的藝術，因此聽力對於一位音樂工作者來說，是一種最重要的能力。這也正是為什麼所有的音樂教育，都非常重視聽力訓練的緣故。
一般常見的聽力訓練方式，是以調性為基礎來做訓練，無論是練習聽音程或音階，甚至是和聲或旋律都是如此。換句話說，要以這種方式來聽，必須先聽出一個調性的中心，然後再聽出其它音符與這個調性中心的關係。然而，對於一些和聲與調性轉換上較為複雜的音樂（例如爵士樂），這種以調性為基礎的聽力訓練方式就顯得有些許的不足了。
"無調性聽力訓練"這個 app 所採用的方式，是建立在傳統聽力訓練方式的基礎之上，加以發展出來的進階聽力訓練技巧。簡單來說，這個聽力訓練技巧並不試圖聽出旋律的調性中心，而是藉由不斷反覆熟悉各種"音程"在聲響上的差異，來聽出旋律中相鄰音符之間的音程關係。因此，無論所聽到的音樂是否有調性中心的存在，並不造成任何的影響，因為我們所要聽的只是前一個音與後一個音之間的關聯而已。藉由這個方式，我們可以聽出任何複雜的旋律！

程式設計與撰寫者 莊智淵 Eric Chuang，畢業於美國百克里音樂學院(Berklee College of Music)以最高榮譽取得演奏學位，是華人地區知名的爵士吉他演奏家，Tom Anderson 吉他台灣地區代言人， Mad Professor 效果器代言人，Providence 效果器代言人，Mooer 效果器合作藝術家。除了專輯(無限融合樂團 TFP )曾獲台灣金曲獎與金音獎的肯定之外，也出版過多份音樂影音教材與線上教學課程，以及各種音樂訓練 app。
